why

Fruits and vegetables purchased from the supermarket for our consumption, on average, travel over 1500 miles to make it from farm to fridge (a distance up 22% in the past twenty years).1 Also, the price of fresh produce has risen over 40% since the mid eighties.2 Immense environmental costs and impact to our wallets aside, we can certainly all appreciate the flavor and nutritional benefits of food fresh from our own gardens!
